Boy, startup sounds can be embarrassing

Startup SoundSo now with laptops we are computing in some pretty public places. Here is a little video that takes an awkward situation to the extreme. Enjoy.

    Yep, that guy should definitely do what I do and plug some headphones into the PowerBook when starting up in public. Very cool film :)

    It was staged, of course. Well, they played a joke on the people in the library at the very least. Macs don’t have a startup sound beyond the signature chime unless you add some utility. Also, you can hold down the mute key (F3) for a short while when the Mac first starts up to skip the startup chime.

    I don’t think the people in the library were fooled, considering there was someone with a camera moving around and shooting from several different angles throughout. Funny, but a bit drawn out.
