I was just watching Deal or No Deal and saw one of these great new Mac ads. Yes, you read that right new MAC ads, finally (Right. I didn’t count the Postal Service redux ad). I happened to catch the “Virus” ad (pun intended) and got a good chuckle out of it. I especially enjoyed the part where the “PC” crashes. There are a total of 6 ads and they all follow the same motif. Two guys, one is a Mac and the other a PC, and they discuss a topic pointing out how each relates to it and, of course, pointing out how the Mac does a better job of it. Hey, they are Apple ads after all. The good news is all the ads are up on Apple’s web site so, if you haven’t caught them on TV yet you can stillsee them here. It’s Mac addict PC bashing at its finest. To go along with the ad campaign Apple has a section of their site devoted to all the reasons Why you’ll love a Mac Great if you need some solid reasons to give your friends and family for making the switch. Enjoy.

I liked the air of subtlety about them. They are very relaxed with no big budgets that sort of thing. Sure they are promoting Mac but they bash PeeCees quitely and not openly, the Asian camera ad is the best I think, rather clever! Oh and the way the Mac guy is dressed is smooth as, I like his shoes!
i LOVE them all, so well done
I thought they were rather dull; very un-Apple.
Finally, some great ads by Apple. It’s been awhile, maybe since the Superbowl, since I’ve got a good laugh from a commercial. A little humor is a great way to make a huge point.
I thought these were extremely well done. The marketing team for Apple really made something clever this time. The actors seemed very comfortable and very real (and didn’t seem like actors at all). I particulary like the subtlety of the one entitled “Better”. Very nice.
What a great ad campaign! They are clever and funny without being overbearing or smug. Very fun. I loved them all, but I think the digital camera one is the best. Followed closely by the iLife one.
I’m gonna put these on my iPod. Thanks for the laughs Apple.
Does anyone recognize the actor that plays the Mac? He look really familiar and it’s bugging the hell out of me.
P.S. My fav is the iLife. Clock…hours of fun!
The dig cam one is my fav too… followed by iLife but they’re all great.
the Mac actor is Justin Long

Phil,
That guy played Warren Cheswick on the NBC show ‘Ed’. The actors name is Justin Long, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0519043/
The beauty of the adds is that they represent apple perfectly, they are the best and most creative ads in the industry, by far. I can’t think of a single computer ad ever, not including apple ones, that is this creative.
I just saw the commercial where the PC is like, “I have….Calculator….and….Clock…” Made me laugh my butt off!!
I think they should have gone with Nitrozac and Snaggy’s take on it:

The really beauty of these ads is the PC guy’s striking resemblance to a certaing Microsoft CEO…
I quite liked them. Takes it humour from the British series of ‘The Office’.
I liked most of the ads but found the Apple was trending on the edge of arrogance. The one about viruses, was like an open invitation to be proven wrong.
Ann, let them try to prove us wrong. its been tried before and the mac has stood its ground.
i find it funny that the pc resembles boring Bill Gates, but the mac resembles the hip cool ‘normal’ person, instead of Steve Jobs. But still, you want to make your company look cool dont ya?
i sent this link to a friend of mine who’s on a pc and she said she couldnt see them cause her pc wasn’t letting her view any web pages. even after restarting. mwuahahah
You watch “Deal or No Deal?” From listening to your show for many months, I can state confidently that you are definitely NOT a moron. Watching such a stupid show seems out of character for you, Adam.
My problem with the ads is that I am a big John Hodgman fan (he’s the PC guy). My sister gave me his book, The Areas of My Expertise, and it is hilarious. He’s great on The Daily Show. He showed Jon Stewart a diagram of an atomic bomb with apples in the “Go-a-lator”, and Stewart asked him if it needed uranium or plutonium instead of apples. Hodgman said something like, “Well, now the secret’s out. You’ve helped the terrorists.” Priceless.
OMG…I laughed my butt off.
It’s great they made the PC guy look like Gates.
I think it’s really cool Apple are coming out with these new Mac Ads.
I’ve also sent all my friends the “Why you’ll love a Mac” link.
WHAT CHANNELS ARE THESE ON!?
Umm… Bill Gates isn’t Microsoft’s CEO… Steve Ballmer is. The PC looked nothing like Steve Ballmer.
Also, the digital camera one was stupid. The camera would have worked just as well with the PC. And saying the PC only comes with calculator and clock is also dumb, sure that’s all Windows comes with, but that’s all OSX comes with too. If you buy a PC it comes bundled with all the kind of apps that the Mac does. Sure they aren’t as nice and iLife.. but they’re there.
I would also not go as far as saying the are great commercials… they’re ok. Just like the Switch campaign really… bland background, hardly any music… just people talking bad about the PC.
I personally like them and i have to second, or third, or whatever that, to the Network comercial. I guess the Japanese camera makes it more interesting. But looking on the other side of the spectrum, i’m sure is not a funny commercial for hardcore PC fans. I’m what you would call “stuck in the middle, leaning towards Mac. I love my mac but i have to use windows every day.
Loved all of them!! Thanks for sharing those Adam :)
G’Day Adam Love the show ! Just wanted to let you know that the miners are free! Huge celebrations in Beaconsfield Tasmania. These guys spent 14 days trapped in a very small space and are remarkable healthy. They walked out into the open and we all got very emotional. They will spend 24 hours in hospital being monitored but all is well. For a macgeek it was fun to hear they were given iPods.
Hugs and Kisses from Oz

I feel apple is opening up a door for problems by saying they dont have spyware/virus problems in there new ads. If this becomes a problem I will be tempted to drive to the Apple corp office and throw my mac through the front door.
:)
