Just as we suspected… Software Update just alerted me to the availablity of iTunes 7.0.1. According to the note it says, “iTunes 7.0.1 addresses stability and performance issues with Cover Flow, CD importing, iPod syncing, and more.”. So what are you waiting for, go grab it and let me know what is fixed and what isn’t.

To get iTunes 7.0.1 , just run Software Update or you can get it here. The update requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, or Windows 2000/XP.

Update: CoverFlow now seems to scream on my Dual Core Mac Mini. Anyone else?

This has fixed my problem of iTunes crashing and your right cover flow is a lot quicker….

Not only that, but I find iTunes is loading faster on my PPC 1.42GHz iBook. Overall, a much needed update- THIS should have beent he actual release. I can’t believe that in Apple’s testing they didn’t come across these significant bugs beforehand.

Some of the features are nice, but does the design look a bit too “Windows” to anyone? I’m a graphic designer and was immediately disturbed by the color scheme, etc. that looks a lot like the Windows interface and not much like my beautiful Mac!

Uh, nevermind. I see the crappy Windows interface of iTunes has already been discussed…forgive me, I’m behind on my MacCasts!

This update fixed my inability to download
a few video casts I was subscribed to.

This update helps alot, but I wonder what the front row update is about.

I upgraded iTunes using OS X Software Update feature. Then I downloaded the “Single of the Week.” Popup message said something like, “Your computer has been authorized, 2 of 5 used.” But it is the same computer with my only iTunes installation!

    LL&P,

^You will have to deathorize one of them; I’d contact Apple for that.

The bugs seem to be fixed for me.

Cover flow is just so freakin’ fast now for me as well.

Before the previous update I was able to use my quick wheel on my mouse to across one by one my album art. Now with the itunes 7.01 update my quick wheel will skip every 2nd album art. What’s up with that?

I just installed iTunes 7.0.1 and have played with it for about an hour, and everything so far works very well and much better than with version 6.x
    1) gapless playback is very nice (pink floyd, depeche mode, classic music)
    2) iPod interface much better than before
    3) cover flow is great and fast. only minor problem is one mentioned in comment # 10 (clicking on left/right arrows moves two albums per click instead of one album at a time; but horizontal scroll bar works fine).
    4) getting album covers is nice, but is it possible to get all missing album covers in one entire playlist? the only way I know is album by album, since when iTunes first opened I said no to download ALL album covers. If someone knows how to download many album covers at one time, please post it here.
    5) color theme: version 6.x was better, but new one is not bad at all.
    6) video podcasts start to play faster and fast forwarding works faster and better. the resolution looks better also… are they High Definition now?
In conclusion, so far, very pleased.

I have the same RE-AUTHORIZATION problem!

It automatically deauthorized my computer (which I noticed because “you couldn’t sync. . .” iPod issues).

I just bought something last week.

The menu item says “Advanced -> Deauthorize Audible Account . . .” and I downloaded a free song to make sure they had my password.

Still a problem (apparently not authorized).

I tried to play a banned song, it gave me the password panel, took about 20-30 seconds contacting the iTunes store, then RE-AUTHORIZED me and said I had used 2 of my 5. This is my ONLY computer (to use iTunes)!

(Obviously I’m not going to have a problem, but this is a HUGE issue!)

fyi: I installed 7.0, and purchased something on it, before installing 7.1.

The update is good for me too.

I still find myself heading for the stand-alone coverflow app rather than the itunes version though. Anyone else?

I also noticed that iTunes store re-authorization issue. Just after the upgrade I attached my iPod and it said x number of songs have not been copied because you are not authorised to play them. And indeed I wasn’t!!! I couldn’t play any of my purchased tunes!

So I had to re-authorise my computer for each of my iTunes store accounts (I have multiple accounts due to different era and different countries.

On one of my accounts it said that I had authorised 2 of 5, but as far as I know prior to the update I only had 1 comp authorised…but now that I think of it, I may have left a friends comp auth so I’ll have to check with him.
However, have no fear, in regard to my other iTunes a/c’s I checked the number of auths I had before trying to play a tune on 7.0.1, then after – and don’t worry, I think it just simply re-authorised my computer, I didn’t ‘loose’ any of my computer-auth-allowance.

I suspect there has been a major upgrade to the DRM technology in iTunes inc. the authorisation protocol which required a fresh authorisation key-pair.

However, perhaps it’s safest to DeAuthorize your computer before you upgrade to v7.0.1, that way you’re sure you’re good. That’s what I’m going to do for my friends PC (I’m on a MacBook).

I run windows 2000 on my computer with the majority of my music, and I updated to the new iTunes 7.0.1, but it displays the error message “iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer.” Any ideas or people with the same problem? I’ve confirmed all my direct3d and directdraw software is enabled and functional.

I know this is out of place because I don’t run mac but there hasn’t been any solutions on the iTunes site or anyother locations.
