Hi Adam,
Had a comment about self-driving cars and the idea of cars-as-a-service. I love the idea of self-driving cars – especially with all the distracted drivers on the roads – but I haven’t bought into cars-as-a service. The major drawback I see is the risk of unavailability. And interestingly, this was unintentionally “highlighted” in the Aug 27 episode of the MacCast when your segment on Apple’s car projects was followed by a segment on donating to relief efforts after Hurricane Harvey. If some natural disaster was impending in my area, I would not want to depend on a company to provide a car for me and my family to evacuate. There may not be enough cars in the area, and we may end up paying a fortune to keep a car for an extended period of time (depending on the pricing model).
Maybe cars-as-a-service works better as a second car (own one car, subscribe to another).
Thank you for every episode of the MacCast.
