I do not have an Intel mac yet, so I would like to know why you use VMware as opposed to Parallels, (Boot Camp you discussed) and CrossOver for Mac.
Has anyone used CrossOver (COfM)? You don’t need Windows to run Windows apps.
Sounds like the ideal way to use Windows apps and you do not need to buy Windows!!
VMware have been doing virtualisation products for a lot longer than Parallels, and it shows. In my experience it’s more stable, virtualised apps can make use of both cores of your Intel 2 Duo (not true of Parallels, yet), and if you want to run Linux or Solaris VMs, desktop integration is way ahead of Parallels.
Parallels are slightly ahead in terms of 3D support in Windows though, so if that’s important to you I guess it’s still the better choice.
Re the English guy who was asking about BootCamp reboots, I don’t think either of you really got what he was asking for at all :)
What he wants is something like an extra item on the Apple menu that says “Restart into Windows”, rather than having to go into system preferences and change boot volumes, or sit around until his machine his shuts down so he can hold down the Option key when it finally restarts.
Sounds to me like the change of system prefs is something that could be AppleScripted… then he could just have an icon on his desktop, or an item on his Scripts menu, that he could use to restart into Windows.
