I wish I could have been there but I’m only 14!
There were a few thousand more people at the launch than I was expecting. The photo’s I took are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/defragged/sets/284895/
Also, I made a flickr pool for anyone to drop photos into here http://www.flickr.com/groups/70176836@N00/
it’s been all weekend and we’ve not heard from the mac geek. hope the install of tiger went well. mine did :)
My install went fine. I am waiting for tonight’s show to go over all the juicy details. I keep my weekends to myself. ;)
Nice pics – I only live a few miles away and I almost went. Having seen all those crowds I’m glad I didn’t! I’ll go and check it out some quiet evening.
Tom, Yes I didn’t realise how long the queue was until I left the Apple store. I was one of the first in and could only see the queue as far back as the main entrance to the shopping complex. I got there 2.5 hours early, and was about 40th in the queue (not many in front). Each half hour the queue seemed to double. For something like this, I’d recommend getting there 1hr to 1.5hrs early – you probably save more time compared with turning up at the opening time. You also get to see all the buildup right outside the shop leading up to the opening. I would imagine all this applies equally to when just a new major OS version is released.

I arrived at 6. Got in at 8. ‘Nuff said.
Doesnt sound like a big diff as far as how long you wait in the queue then. So main benefit to waiting before the opening time vs afterwards is that the queue is stationary and you can sit down and read a mag or use a laptop or whatever. And with the B’ham store the front of the queue (first 100 people ish) is under cover so handy if rain/wind/cold outside (though fine this occasion).
