OK. So I need to send a BIG thank you out to Craig over at the Behind the Scenes Podcast. He has graciously allowed me to hijack his cam feed for the GeekCam during the day. The cam is pointed out the window towords the Pacific ocean and is not too far from my office so you can have an idea of what I see out of my office.
Is there a way to refresh just the GeekCam image using Javascript? Little bit heavy handed to refresh the whole webpage really.

sweet cam. I’m using evocam now, and i’m trying to figure out a way to make a mobile webcam using my cameraphone and email and using cron jobs to execute some perl code that extracts the .jpg and places it where my webcam image is.

That page refresh is not the GeekCam it is actually the Amazon ad. I have noticed it too. I agree it’s a bit annoying. The code is from Amazon, so I an not sure what I can do. Maybe I’ll pick a static ad.
Can you turn the cam a bit to see lego land from there?

The refreshing is caused by the “” code in the header. The Amazon banner is sourced from an external html file by using an iframe tag, and I can’t see anything contained in that external cm.htm file that would cause the whole homepage to refresh. Actually, I’ve just done a quick test, and removing aforementioned meta tag does indeed appear to prevent the whole page from refreshing.

hmm, the quoted html in my last post got stripped out for some reason. It ended up as a pair of empty quotes! I’ll try it again without the angled brackeks…
