Hey Adam, I really enjoyed the show – I’m loving these jam shows!
The conversation around cloud storage got me thinking – and it’s a topic that seems to be talked about more and more these days.
While I like the idea of cloud storage, I’m not sure everyone has the infrastructure to make it work at the moment (a point that was made by either Tom or Scott on the ‘cast). Where I live (in New Zealand), we have slow, unreliable broadband and it’s capped and expensive. I pay NZ$50 for 30gig of data per month, and it’s not very quick (2-4mbps).
I’m loathe to imagine a future where I am forced to access apps and data on my network. Even the constant updates from Apple drive us crazy. The recent iOS update + iTunes 10 cost us most of our data cap for the MONTH once we updated all our devices.
As you pointed out, what I’d really like to see is the ability to re-download my data if I lose the original files. For example, why can’t I easily view and re-download my apps/music from iTunes repeatedly? I would love to see something like the Audible model – it shows me a library of all my books that can be re-downloaded as I please.
