I think the Apple Video Ipod Sucks, The Creative Zen Vision is a much better device, check it out:

Now that was articulate… I’ll leave my own opinions until they are properly formed, but I did enjoy the show, Adam. Again, thanks for bringing it to us.
Do you guys think that the new powerbook will have the iSight camera built into the lid? Didn’t Apple apply for a patent on this idea recently? Depending on the announcement tomorrow, I will switch from PC to Mac….either PB or G5 iMac. Thanks for the podcast, Adam.
I still haven’t heard the latest show, download is in progress but in the meantime anyone hungry to read the TIME article it can be freely found here: http://timecanada.com/story.adp?storyid=005
vingle: hmm from what you said it sounds like itunes will start to deploy a user end to things. Perhaps we can use itunes to talk about tunes and stuff. That would be cool, especially when we consider the video capabilities of the new imac. I think there is something there with the built in isight cam. If all the home machines start to come out with isight built in then…well I’ll leave the speculation up to you.
I wanted to send a postcard but I live in Portugal… can’t I just scan one and send it via e-mail?
Good show Adam! I always look forward to the maccast!
It would be good if apple made frontrow available for the rest of us. You are right in saying it would not take Apple any effort at all to bundle a IR connection with remote or use the universal dock. Come on apple!
john – i hope so! i was thinking about that. i don’t know how tough it’d be to incorporate the iSight into the lid, but if they did i’d go broke and buy one.
The latest iPod updater is out and…no changes for older iPods.
Reference was made on the Oct18 podcast about links on the web page for some screen cleaning products… I finished listening to the cast – went to the page – NO links to these products?? I didn’t want to have to speed listen to the cast again to get names and details…. Any help?
I tried out gDisk. It seemed to upload my files fine. When I tried to downloadthem the app crashes. Also when i go to my gMail account I noticed that each file is actually a draft. Kind of interesting but so far it doesn’t work for me.
The whole Gdisk thing is against the Google TOS, so your account would be subject to termination if you use it.
I won’t pay for Front Row. It’s essentially a front-end for iLife apps which I have already purchased. I would like Apple to give it to us iLife users for free.
The remote could easily be a Bluetooth device (or maybe an Airport device(?)).
By the way, have you been keeping up with the latest from John C. Dvorak? I don’t know why you speak so highly of him, Adam. I find him to be a first-class jerk who accidentally says something nice about Apple amidst his typical anti-Mac bigotry.
Today’s the day guys/gals!!
Apple are updating their store this minute, so fingers crossed it’s big news
Upto 16GB RAM for the new Powermacs has been reported
:)
I couldn’t get gDisk to work, it crashes all the time when you try to upload something. And I also think it’s probably against the Terms of Service. It’s an e-mail service, not a remote storage service.
In comments I’ve heard on this cast and other podcast reviewing the new Ipod, it’s tough everytime I hear it being called the Video Ipod. It’s suppose to be an Ipod with video support. If you look at the store online, it replaced the old Ipod. Apple also announced, I think at the keynote, that this is not a video device just added support.
Agree with Mike, gDisk crashes whenever you try to download.
BTW, I could see where it was against Google’s TOS – maybe I didn’t look hard enough!
And WOW that 16GB comes at a price.. $10,000 for RAM? No thanks.
Dave,
Hey we need guys like Dvorak to keep us mac zealots in check. I don’t agree with everything he says, but I find him insightful and entertaining. I like to hear all sides and then form my own opinions.
Dvorak tends to be a little disingenuous, even going as far as saying that he “gets NO spam.”
I like hearing some of what he says (very small doses), but his credibility, well, I wouldn’t bet the farm on it.
I finally got my video iPod and the video is a little blotchy for backgrounds. However, whoever is in focus … the video is pretty darn sharp. I can also rewind or go back to the beginning. However, the rewind is a bit slow and doesn’t show where you are currently at. There is also a fast forward too. Just hold down the double arrow buttons.
Adam & Listeners: I received my new iPod with video today ordering it from the Apple online store. It has full fast forward & rewind functions for videos by holding down the right or left side of the click wheel. You can quickly jump to any part of a video by hitting the button and then scrolling forwards or backwards with the click wheel. Tiki Bar TV imported as is from iTunes, no problem. Just wanted to let you know…
Adam
Re. your mention of Front Row – and requirement for a remote control.
I have EyeTV (so my iMac G4) is my TV, and use a remote using Salling Clicker. So my mobile phone is my remote using bluetooth.
It even turns off the sound when I get a call!
Also works with iTunes and other apps from the sofa.
Best wishes,
Tim
