More on the video iPod, I tried mine on the TV but better is using it in the car using the line in to my DVD player in the back. I don’t have to worry about this yet, but if you had some teenagers in the back, this is a killer app.

Used the camcorder cable to connect to the line in as shown here

I believe you mentioned this on a previous maccast.

I sure hope that they don’t drop firewire…

In regards to FireWire, it’s an Apple technology, it would be a huge mistake if they did so.

Keep up the good work Adam.

Why do you buy iTunes episodes of TV programmes to then watch on your TV? I don’t get it. Why don’t you just record using tivo. it’s free.

Plus isn’t the quality a bit rubbish. And it’s also free on bittorrent. It’s not legal, but I feel okay downloading stuff cos I only ever want to watch this stuff ONCE. I then delete it.

I love family guy & american dad for example, but I just bittorrent them and delete them. Or I tivo them (we’re a bit behind here in the uk)

I would be blown away if the next Mac Mini had HDMI output, but somehow I don’t think it’ll happen.

I think LG are the king of LCD and hi-def. just hook up a mac mini & an LG (or sony or whatever) and you have a killer setup.

No firewire in intel era? That is completely backwards. No sense, none whatsoever. I agree with Adam that it will be one of the worst things Apple could do. Firewire rocks!

Since the maccast seems to be trumpeting the triumphs of getting video from your ipod to TV and how cool that is and so forth. Great! There is tivo and I found this http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/replaytv/default.asp

I think both are great but is this like tivo?

I am pretty sure Firewire 800 is backward compatible so if you have only a single FW800 port you are fine. Sounds like they might only be removing the older, slower port. No one yelled that there are only USB 2.0 ports and no USB 1.1

  11. Wally | Dec 14 2005 - 03:26

You mentioned that no DV camcorders do USB? Well, I thought that too but the other day I got a Sony HC32 and that unit offers USB for pulling movies off the camera (in addition to the Sony iWire (4 pin firewire) port). So, maybe it’s a trend (let’s hope not).

u said beat instead of beta,
Google earth is a great program with the windows interface, but did you know you can also do sattilite mapping without the beta version on a mac.
    Go to google.com
    click on local
    type in your address
    click search
    click sattilite
zoon in all the way, you should see your house

Until the Nokia N80 comes out you still need a dedicated wifi finder. I’d like ipods to do that job for me. so the best application for Wifi for ipods for me is the ability to locate open wifi networks ;-)
