OK. That was more painful than it should have been. We should now be all moved over to the new server. Please let me know if you notice anything out of place. I had a really hard time with the forum. Even though I did a complete backup, it turned out the new host would not let me upload a backup of more than 8MB and the forum database is approx 30MB!! Thank goodness I found this.
yay new server!!
Wow, that was a lifesaver that you were able to find that software, anywhoo i’m glad the transition is over. Lota luck with the new provider.
One quirk I just noticed: when I hit back on Safari while browsing the forums, I get redirected to the “sorry, this forum is unavailable, try again later” and have to reload the page.
Glad to have the forums back.
Yeah, SQL can be a nightmare to transfer… I recently had to move a phpBB forum to a new host and the database was huge. I had the same problem with not being able to upload a backup file of a certain size and I ended up by having to split it all up into smaller files just so that I could import it on the new host. This nifty little script might come in usful next time I have to do something like this again though. :D
seems faster :)
gekko,
That sounds like a browser cache issue. Try clearing that and see if it fixes it.
i use firefox 1.5 and i have a livebookmark saved in my bookmarks toolbar folder of the maccast feed. since the move, when i click on the maccast feed and bring up the popup window that would normally give me a list of all the posts, it just says, ‘live bookmark failed to load’.
cheers
2things. 1 is that firefox keeps saying that the live bookmark feed for maccast.com keeps failing to load. but i can still get to the website.
and also, i made this comment before as well as another one and it appeared there before but now its dissapeared. lets hope this one gets through. cheers
Congrats on the new home
Re breaking the backuup up. For those with access to a Windows PC you might want to check out sqlyog enterprise. This is great for syncing structure/data between two databases (eg between dev and production machines). It even has HTTP tunneling (which you enable by simply ftp-ing up a small php file to your host) to fallback on if you need to sidestep any security measures the host has in place. Saves a lot of time if you do web dev on Windows. I think Sqlyog have some kind of Linux support, so it’s not beyond possibility that they’d consider porting to the Mac if enough people pestered them!
Did the RSS feed for the website change? Cuz in my google personalized home it is always saying information unavailable for only the maccast. I checked the feed in the upper right hand corner and thats only the podcast not the blog. Does anyone know the new RSS feed?
the rss feed is working for me again now. and my comments seem to be showing up too. whatever adam did he fixed it.
