Or – to change default finder column width:
Open finder window in column view
Press option key while dragging column to desired width.
That should set it as default width for all finder windows.
In your podcats you are talking about imovie and NAS storage. It is possible to use iMovie and NAS storage. You have to run a terminal command to enable it.

You can add the recovery partition later with Carbon Copy Cloner. You just go to disc center, and recovery HD. I suggest to have a full backup before doing this just in case.
