I am from the UK. I was interested in your feature about the ‘Black Screen’ issue with some Mac’s on the ‘Wake from Sleep’ with 3rd Party Monitors.
I have had this problem consistently with my 2013 Mac Pro with both dual Dell U2415 monitors. These are great monitors, almost no bezel and great colour – but they suffer from the issue you mentioned and it was driving me crazy.
Firstly, the easiest way to fix the issue when using the mac, without risking a hard reset, is to simply pull out the monitor cable and plug it back in. This is usually enough to get the Mac to reset the screen and solve the problem.
But that is very frustrating and not a sensible option longer term. After trips to the Apple store to check out my Mac Pro (which worked flawlessly with Apple monitors) and a lot of experimentation, I cured the problem on my Mac Pro by throwing away the display port cables supplied by Dell and replaced them with better quality ones – problem cured !!
So before you change that expensive monitor for another that does not work – try changing the cables.
