I’m a homeschooler, and I was able to get the educational discount as a high schooler from the Apple Store for education (online) when buying a Powerbook about a year ago.
For some reason Apple has a separate policy for home schooling. Go figure.
In my experience you can get the educational discount but you are actually lying. They do not check your ID or anything online.
Of course when i got all of my software from academicsuperstore.com i had to fax them my school ID but all the companies i was getting software from (Microsoft, Adobe, Webroot, Macromedia,etc) accepted high school students
