A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 134. I’ve recently had a number of folks ask about Apple’s Airplay and more specifically about Airplay Mirroring. OS X Mountain Lion brought support for Airplay Mirroring to newer Macs and there are a lot of questions about why support is not broader. In this episode I look at Apple’s Airplay Mirroring and try to understand why Apple choose to limit it and what 3rd party solutions we might use to open it up to more Mac users.

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 132. There is such a thing as tempting fate and getting overly confident in ones ability to keep our precious iDevices safe. I have been asking for topics that you want to know about for these membership shows and Judy had some great questions about what happens when you enable iCloud backups on your device. I have to admit that it’s a huge area of mystery to me so it was a perfect opportunity for us all to learn with a little ICloud Backup deep dive.

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 129. I discovered recently that in OS X Lion that when you run repair permission in Disk Utility that it will not repair permissions on anything in the users folder. Items inside the user’s home folder are regulated by Access Control Lists (ACLs) while items outside the user’s home folder are regulated by more standard (POSIX) permissions. In this show I attempt to learn a little bit more about these permission systems as they relate to OS X.

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 127. Doing a guest spot on the Mac Show (British Tech Network) the subject of Tim Cook came up and I realized that even though he’s been at the helm of Apple for a while, we really don’t know much about him. In this episode I take advantage of the great D10 interview he gave recently to try and get to know and understand Tim Cook a bit better.
